Swedish project ViVii are slowly ramping up the hype for their February-due album, beginning with this single. 'Suckerpunch' is a rich lesson in music production, with excellent melody and timbre combining to create a stunningly rewarding track. The otherworldly sound created is juxtaposed by the everyday, relatable lyrics (‘fast food is what I’m into’ or ‘I could ask for a promotion’), while the slow build into the (heavily edited) string-led melodic section makes for a rewarding outro. ViVii have been touring the festival scene all summer, and with the release of this track, I’m sure will continue to do so for a long time. -Dan Peeke
